What is Commons Education?
Commons Education is one of the UK’s leading providers of private tutoring and education consultancy. Our member tutors teach and advise families in London, the UK and all around the world.
Our objective is helping children secure their next step in education: we specialise in school entry preparation, admissions placement and advice for all entry points to London schools (7+, 10+, 11+, pre-test, 13+ and 16+).
We are a co-operative of expert private tutors in London and Surrey, with a modern, progressive approach. Commons Education was specifically set up as a specialist, independent 'chambers' of tutors, providing an alternative to corporate London tutoring agencies, by Adam D’Souza, based on his experience of teaching and leadership in some of London’s most distinctive independent schools. All our members share in our educational ethos, which prioritises academic value-add for every student, hand-in-hand with nurturing the emotional wellbeing of your child.
Do you offer online tutoring?
Yes, definitely. We do not think in terms of means, but of ends. Many of our extremely talented member tutors live outside London, so online tuition enables your child to have access to the right fit tutor for them and their needs.
Are Commons tutors DBS checked?
Yes. While each member tutor of Commons Education operates independently, all have to provide evidence of Enhanced DBS checks and agree to abide by a collective Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy. Commons members engage in CPD on safeguarding and children's mental health. What sets us apart is that our members have experience of pastoral care as well as academic tutoring.
Do you work outside London?
Yes. Commons members’ home turf is south-west London and Surrey. However, we also work internationally, creating pathways into British education for families around the world. Recent experience includes China, Dubai, Singapore, Switzerland, France, the United States and more… Some of our member tutors have expertise in overseas face-to-face tutoring.
How much does it cost?
Each member tutor sets their own fee levels independently.
Members have a transparent and practical approach to fees and would be happy to discuss the most suitable fee structure for your family's needs. Typical fee structures are hourly billing for regular private tutoring and fixed fees for projects such as intensive school entrance preparation courses or educational consultancy.
Before engaging any Commons Education member tutor you will receive clear guidance on fees and terms.
