Becca Toft
I personally love Becca as a tutor, she always joins your meeting with a smile on her face! She also really helps by changing the papers to fit your ability and make you feel supported, this has always helped me and gives me a little boost of confidence so I know even if you work slowly you can still manage the harder questions! Sometimes the questions are really tricky but she always helps by putting it in different language and giving you a small helping hand! :)

What makes a great tutor?
A great tutor will build confidence, familiarity and enthusiasm for their subject. They will create a good rapport with their students and find the best ways to enable the student to learn. They guide their students to understand the meaning behind the methods used and enable them to apply these methods across their work with assurance and consideration. A great tutor encourages questions and discovery.
What are you trying to encourage and cultivate in your students?
I am trying to encourage my students to create links and understanding within the subject so that as they grow, they can attack any question with the core knowledge that has been cemented with them at this stage in their education.
Apart from teaching, what are your own extra-curricular interests?
Alongside teaching mathematics, I also work as a professional trumpeter. I love painting in watercolours.
What Commons Education tutors different?
We take the time to get to know each student as a human being and help make the right decisions for them. We have very positive relationships with each child and their family, meaning that everyone is on the same page; all our goals and expectations for the student match up allowing us to efficiently plan and tailor each lesson as needed.
Who or what inspires you?
Long walks in the fresh air clear my mind and set me up for a productive day, where ideas can fly and problems can be solved.

After completing her honours degree in music performance at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and spending a year working on the West End, her focus came back to teaching.
